My 2011 X5 35i was cranking longer than it should while cold. This occurred at 55,000 miles 6 mos out of warranty. It turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump, a known troubled item on models 2007-2010 with a sordid recall history (google X5 HPFP). Hi, yes, you can only chk with the car is down and does not start.yes chk the wake up line 15. This line goes from the batt via the ibs all the way to the front fuse box. For my case, we just put a resistor to bring the voltage down on shut down. The problem is that this line bring awake also discharges my batt. Quote:

2010 X5 3.0i E70 with N52 engine. Production date 11/2009. Last 7 digits of VIN is L279494. No EKPS fuel pump module because it is not a direct fuel injection. DME controls fuel relay directly. Problem is crank no start. I found out there was no fuel pressure.
